Yogacharya Devjani Ma

Born in Puri, in the eastern Indian state of Odisha, Devjani spent her childhood moving across different parts of the state as her father held administrative postings. She completed postgraduate studies in Economics at Ravenshaw College, Cuttack, Odisha. She married Arvind, an international banker, and after some years of international residence in the UK and Japan they settled in Sydney, Australia in 1987 with their young sons Ansuman and Ashirwad.

Devjani worked for more than two decades in local government in the Department of Planning and Developmental Services. Alongside her professional life she nurtured an inner longing for spiritual growth, and explored many paths, including attending visiting monks’ discourses and satsangs at the Vedanta Centre of Sydney under the guidance of revered Swami Sridharanandaji Maharaj.

Finally, in April 2000 during a Satsang, she met her beloved Guruji and found her Swami Vivekananda in Him. She realised that her search had reached its goal. Both she and Arvind were initiated into Kriya Yoga the following Easter weekend, just prior to Guruji’s departure for the USA. With the initiation of their sons shortly afterward, the entire family embraced the path.

Since then, the practice of Kriya Yoga and meditation has been a vital anchor for Devjani as she navigates life’s ups and downs. In 2023, with blessings of the lineage, Devjani began guiding meditation in Australia and overseas and initiating seekers on the path in 2025. With deep devotion to Guruji and the teachings of the lineage, she offers her time and service to loving seekers on this spiritual path.
